The Episcopal Church Welcomes You!
We are a welcoming group of believers whose message is one of trust in the hope-filled promises of Jesus Christ, love for one another, and service to the community.
An Episcopal parish in the Diocese of Virginia, we have since 1732 witnessed to the transformative power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through an Anglican tradition of worship in the Book of Common Prayer, along with an understanding of our relationship to God through scripture, tradition, and reason.
Our ministries are how we fulfill this mission.
Our Parish Life ministry plans and organizes fellowship and hospitality events for our parish and community. We believe that relationships are created and supported through opportunities for conversation. We have several social events each month aimed at helping our members stay connected, and these are great opportunities for newcomers to learn more about us. Check out our News page for information on current events.
As believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ we seek to understand our faith through worship and education.
Our Worship Ministry helps to coordinate worship on Sunday mornings and other major feast days. Our Worship Ministers support Lay Readers, Preachers, Eucharistic Ministers, Acolytes, the Altar Guild, and our Flower Ministry. Together with our Music Minister, the Worship Ministry supports our Music Ministry.
Education is an essential component of our faith. Anglicans have long believed that reason is one of the essential and authoritative aspects of our relationship with God.
Our Christian Education programs provide members and visitors with the depth that they need to make their faith as informed as it is meaningful. Visitors are encouraged to attend INQUIRER'S CLASS to learn more about the Episcopal Church, its form of worship, and how our parish fits into the larger Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion. During the week, our Adult Forum program explores topics ranging from the origins of Holy Scripture, Prayer, Church History, and Biblical Interpretation.
Our ministries at TFCE are multi-generational, and children are welcome at any of our programs and classes. However, we definitely believe in age-appropriate education and offer specific classes for the needs of our youth and children. Youth and Children's Education programs range from Sunday School to Confirmation Classes, and our goal is to encourage children to grow in their faith until, as mature teenagers, they are ready to take responsibility for their own faith formation through the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Trust, Love, Service
Jesus is the foundation of our community, and we strive to follow his commandments: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength... and you shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:36-40) We trust in Jesus to be present with us, sanctifying and blessing our life together, and we trust in Christ to call us to new opportunities that make his Good News known to all.
Love is paramount to the teachings of Jesus, and Love is paramount to our life together. Because we love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and because we love our neighbors as ourselves, we take care of those in need. Our Pastoral Care Ministry is available to parishioners, visitors, and friends of friends. Whether it is a friendly ear to listen, healing hands to bless, or someone to visit you in the hospital, our priests and lay ministers are available 24 hours a day.
For those requiring material or financial support, our Outreach Ministry is prepared to find a lasting solution to the needs of our neighbors. In following the commandments of Jesus, we reach out beyond our own parish walls in order to share our love and the love of God with those in our neighborhood and beyond. Through our Outreach Ministry, we seek out the needs of our community and encourage faithful and loving responses from our parish and our ministry partners, which include:
