Lazarus Ministries

Offering a Hand Up Rather than a Hand Out

TFCE Lazarus Ministries welcomes individuals facing tough times who want to take charge of their circumstances and make changes for a better life.  This involves a case management approach to support the successful achievement of each participant's personal goals.  The ministries also accept volunteers and donations.  Details on the ministry page at www.thefallschurch-episcopal.org/lazarus.

Welcome Table

Falls Church Presbyterian Church
3rd Wednesday Each Month
6:00-7:00 p.m.

Hosted by The Falls Church Presbyterian Church, TFCE supports this ministry by helping to provide a home-cooked meal and a time of fellowship for the homeless.  This dinner is held the third Wednesday of each month from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the FCPC Fellowship Hall.

TFCE youth collect toiletries year-round, which are donated to the Free Market Toiletry Table as part of this ministry.  Toiletry basics such as toothpaste, toilet paper and soap in non-travel size packaging are greatly appreciated.

Donations:

Drop off your toiletry donation any time in the Welcome Table basket in the Upper Narthex.

Meals on Wheels

Could you spare a few hours in the middle of the day to help deliver meals to those in Falls Church who, through age or infirmity, have difficulty preparing meals for themselves? In collaboration with The Falls Church Presbyterian Church, TFCE supports this community ministry.

Volunteers typically commit to one or two days per month.  We are also seeking those who are able to serve as substitutes when the regular delivery person is unavailable. Please contact Barry New at barrynew4@verizon.net or 703-759-9165 for more information or to volunteer.

Annual Walk for the Homeless

This year's event was held Sunday, September 15.

Thank you for your generosity and involvement in this important fundraiser for local homelessness.

Each year, in collaboration with The Falls Church Presbyterian Church, TFCE annually participates in a short fundraising walk to support Shelter House, Inc.

Many are unaware that although we live and work in one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, there are more than 1,500 homeless men, women, and children in Fairfax County. In support and recognition of the homeless among us, we annually hold this short-walk fundraiser for Shelter House, Inc.

Join us in 2014 for this 1 mile walk along Broad Street, starting in the church parking lot.  Information and registration will become available during the summer of 2014.

School Supplies Drive for Shelter House

Each summer, Shelter House collects school supplies to support their children when they start school in the fall.  Please join us in donating supplies to help these children start the school year prepared.

A list of needed items will be listed in the weekly service bulleting during the weeks when Shelter House is collecting donations, as well as drop boxes in the church building where you can deliver your donations.

This year, donations were accepted through July 28, 2013.

Rebuilding Together

One Saturday each spring, the parish works with Rebuilding Together to renovate the home of a needy family in our area. No special home-improvement skills are needed.

All hands are welcome.

If you can scrape, paint, hang windows, clean-up, make sandwiches or bring coffee, you're welcome and your help is appreciated.

Last year's event was held on Saturday, April 27.

Join us next year for the spring 2014 event.

Contact Kees Dutilh or Mike Snyder with questions.

We hope you'll join us!   This is a great family activity.
