Parish Events


Dinners for Eight

Each month, members of the parish gather for small dinner parties.   This is a fun and informal way to get to know the members of the parish, enjoy conversation, and share a meal together.

 

Dates

The date of the dinner is subject to change each month, but are always held on a Saturday night.

Please watch the Sunday Bulletin for an announcement or check the Calendar tab at the top of this page.

 

 

 

Register

Email Nancy Councilor or add your name to the paper sign-up sheet at the coffee hour after the Sunday services. Please also indicate if you are interested in hosting one of the dinners.

These dinners are organized by Nancy Councilor of the Parish Life Committee.

 


 

Parents Night Out


One Friday per month during the school year, the parish sponsors free childcare for grades K-5 for parishioners and families of the greater Falls Church community. Participating parents are asked to chaperone one Friday night per spring and fall semester.

Program:

Free pizza dinner, a child-appropriate movie, games and crafts, and seasonal activities. Two or three adult chaperones provide supervision.

Limit: 25 children

Reservations: Reservations are required at least one week in advance. Email or call Cathy Tibbetts.

Location: Nicolson Hall

Drop Off: 6:30 p.m.
Pick Up: 9:00 p.m.

Shrine Mont Annual Family Retreat


October 2013

Each October, the parish offers a family retreat to the Shrine Mont retreat center in the Shenandoah Mountains.

 

Activities

This is a chance to meet and spend time with the members of the parish and your family, and relax and reflect in the peace and beauty of the mountains.

Activities include a bonfire with s’mores and a sing-along, hiking, star-gazing, zip-lining, golf, board games, and family-style meals.

Guest Speaker

Each year, a guest speaker enlightens our understanding of a specific thematic topic while supervised activities are provided for children. 

Scholarship and Transportation Support:

Blessing of the Animals


This special service is usually held the first Sunday of October to offer a blessing for the animals in our lives.

The service is held in the church lawn by Nicolson Hall in the afternoon. More information will become available as the service date approaches.
